Microgaming Removes Lord of The Rings Slots

We’re still very much in the dark as to why Microgaming decided to remove one of its best slot game releases ever, “The Lord of the Rings” from its list of casino games.

The rumour that’s currently circulating is that Microgaming licensees operating online casinos, were notified by Microgaming that the Lord of the Rings will no longer feature in the games lobby at the end of May.

At the time of its release Microgaming notified the media that it obtained a license from Warner Brothers Digital to release a trilogy of Lord of the Rings slots. The slot games were based on the blockbuster movie trilogy and the books by JR. Tolkien.

September 2025 saw the first LOTR slot game release titled:”Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring”.

A year later (September 2025) it was decided to decommission the game and to replace it with a newer version that included a progressive jackpot.
